Spooky Pumpkin Characters with Benita and the Night Creature

I absolutely adore pumpkin season. And I absolutely adore crafts and art. So it was only fitting

that I made Benita and the Night Creatures into pumpkins!!

If you have the book, they will be very easy to do!

1. I chose pumpkins that had a smooth surface and would fit the characters. For example,

I found one shaped like Cuco!

2. Only for Benita, I cut a triangle out of cardboard and glued it to the pumpkin to make her

nose. I painted all skin color

3.I used acrylic paints for the skin/hair color and let it dry overnight. The next day I painted the face details.

4. For some features I used cardboard (like Tunche’s and Yanapuma’s eye, for example. I used crazy glue to hold them in place.

5. For Cucho’s arms and Supay’s ears I used left over foam board. First I drew and cut the shapes, then painted them. Finally, I used a toothpick to attach them to the pumpkins.

6. I used poster board for Supay’s horns and hair. I cut the shapes and painted them. Then I used crazy glue to glue them in place. (I made a little flap that would stick to the pumpkin)

7. For Yanapuma’s ears, I used construction paper. For her whiskers I used pipe. I used crazy glue to hold everything in place.

8. I used foam board for Benita’s braids! I traced them, cut them out and painted them before attaching them to the pumpkin using a toothpick. I used pipe cleaners to make her glasses. I used crazy glue to hold the glasses in their place.

9. If you’re feeling extra fancy, you could make a little book and glue it to Benita’s side, you

know, she always has a good book to read!

I hope you enjoy creating your pumpkins!! Let me know how it goes! ❤️
