SCHOOL VISITS PROGRAM

Visits available in English or Spanish

An in person visit makes a difference and leaves a lasting impact in children’s minds. Mariana has experience working with elementary school classes all the way to high school students in need of motivation. She can tailor her visit to fit YOUR needs and reinforce your curriculum. Visits are design around one of her books and will be customized according to grade level. In all visits, As a Global Reading Advocate, Mariana highlight the importance of reading. Mariana’s lessons are best suited for grades 2nd and up. Please inquire about visits for younger grades (1st, K).

Students need to read my book (s) prior to my visit.

Testimonials

“Our storytelling event with Mariana was wonderful. She did an excellent job of explaining what are often difficult topics for children to understand. She posed questions and involved those in attendance in every part of ‘Luca’s Bridge’ . I would definitely recommend Mariana to any group or organization wanting a professional storyteller, writer, and literacy advocate.”

This was, by far, one of our best author visits. Mariana’s presentation was engaging and authentic. My teachers were so impressed and awed by her relationship with the students. She talked with them. Using my principal’s word, this was an ‘optimal’ visit. Thank you so much!”

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Author visits make long-lasting impressions in children’s minds. A visit from an author who is also an immigrant, bilingual, and Latina is a great way to promote diversity in your school. How many of your students would feel represented by a Spanish-speaking author? How many students who have no opportunity to meet people of diverse backgrounds will have an opportunity to break away from stereotyping?

My visits are centered around my books, so each book is a different lesson. At this moment, my books Kutu the Tiny Inca Princess and Luca’s Bridge, make for interesting presentations.
I will tailor my presentation to YOUR curriculum. What do you want me to help you reinforce?

I can visit groups of children as young as kindergarten or as old as those adorable high school teens. My experience working at a preschool gives me tools to handle large groups.

My fees are listed above. Once we talk and you are ready to book, I’ll send you an invoice and you will be able to pay via Paypal (or check if you prefer).

School visits are my passion…but also my job. I take time from my family, work, and writing to visit schools and offer a resource to educators. Also, as an author, I value what I do. I put a lot of time and effort into developing my lessons. And I hope you agree with me, I believe that all work should be fairly compensated. (You know, authors have to eat too!)
